Ian James is a recording artist with a predominant focus in the rock n roll genre. Working out of his home studio Ian writes, records and produces music with the range that reaches the film/tv market as well as the commercial mainstream. His songs have appeared in clubs, tv, radio and on cd releases. Not limited to rock, Ian writes in various other genres using his twenty years of songwriting experience to reach a wide range of music fans. Ian founded the Blue FX Records label in 1995 to support indie and unheralded bands, and the label is still releasing new music from artists today.

January 2014, Was voted Best Discovery of 2013 on the Nanobot Rock Reviews website. Nanobot reviewed 120 bands and artists throughout 2013, including Ian James for the Human Casualty album. June 2013, Releases album "Human Casualty" on Blue FX Records, featuring 11 new tracks and 3 bonus tracks. The song "No Harm" appeared on the Allston Pudding Mixtape Benefit for the One Fund, raising money for the Boston Marathon bombing victims. Several tracks garnered radio airplay world wide.
July + September 2012, The song Deeper Shade of House from the My Cascade Amplification album was placed in two episodes of "The Bad Girls Club Season 9, Mexico on the Oxygen Network.
July 2012: Releases album "Grand Delusions" on Blue FX Records, song All for Nothing garners airplay on 101.7FM WFNX. Also in 2012, Ian licensed 6 songs to the Epitome Music Library for flm and tv placements

February 2009: Joins the punk band Chanticlear as bass player.
August 2008: Signs one song deal with Platinum Music Library of the U.K. The song Poker Smoke is an instrumental hip-hop track. Platinum will seek film/tv placement opportunities for the song.

Spring 2007: Placed multiple songs in the DVD "Inner Balance", a movie featuring extrerme unicyling. Produced by Balance Productions.
February 2007: Joins Punk band S.W.A.G.G. as bass player.
October 2006: Placed multiple songs in an independent DVD covering the NorthAmerican Uni-Cycling Competiton and Convention in TN. Produced by Balance Productions.
September 2006: Independently released CD "Remnants" under the name Invasive, a collaboration with John Skolfield.
July 2006: voted artist for a day on ourprisoner.com reality web show. Ians music was played throughout the day.
Spring 2006: Placed song "Birthday" in two episodes of the boating show Port-O-Call, which aired on NESN (regional cable network reaching 13 million subscribers) as well as Comcast NY and Comcast PA.
Fall 2005: Song "Time" used on marketing CD-Rom produced by the Boston firm, Silverscape. September 2005: Released CD "World-Funk-Rhthym & Blues Vol. 1" on indie label Blue FX Reords.
June 2005: Placed multiple songs in four episodes of tv show "Urban Explorers", which aired on The Discovery Channel.
